Verity-Jane Keefe
2023 – 2025
Verity-Jane Keefe works predominantly in the public realm to explore the complex relationship between people and place. She is interested in the role and potential of the artist within urban regeneration and how experiential practice can touch upon and raise ambitions of existing and invisible communities.
She is working with us as an Incidental Artist and will begin her feasibility study in Autumn 2023, operating between the cracks, lurking and piecing work together from the overheard/ observed / fragments /the existing, approaching Birmingham as a collaborator, an old friend that she is keen to get to re-know.
Verity is the 2023 Wheatley Fellow in partnership with Birmingham School of Art.
Working with moving image, text, object and installation Verity explores possible taxonomies of everyday life. She is currently working on commissions in London, Eastbourne (UK) and Detroit (US) and is artist in residence for St Barts Hospital over 2023 for it’s 900th anniversary year.
She is a Unit Leader at the Architectural Association, London, teaching an Intermediate Studio and is also an associate lecturer at Central Saint Martins on the BA Fine Art XD pathway.
