“The Artist, The Community, The Council and The Philanthropist, Workshop Writings Fanzine”
Over the Spring and Summer of 2025, Verity joined the self-writing poetry group, led by Hayley Frances, at The Friends Institute in Highgate, first as participant, and then as facilitator, leading four workshop sessions with the group to help develop the emerging work as part of The Artist, The Community, The Council and The Philanthropist.
These were vital, honest and open.
As participant, confidence has grown in poetry, as facilitator, complete respect and awe to the generosity and richness of the conversation and writing, and the unwavering openness and trust to being involved, from start to finish.
The workshops have helped shape the scripts and installation of the exhibition, and the participants form part of the community cast of the soap-opera come radio play.
This fanzine collates the written responses from the sessions.
The Writing Group are Cathy, Dionne, Donovan, Hayley, Irine, Liz, Mark, Q, Rosemarie and Verity.
Thanks to all of them for the words, thought, energy, trust and involvement. All proceedings from the sales of this publication will go towards the upkeep of the self-writing poetry group at The Friends Institute in Highgate.
