Salary: £28,508 to £30,986 per annum pro rata
Part Time 0.5 (2.5 days p/w)

Are you an experienced technician with a strong track record of delivering projects to successful completion? Can you evidence the technical skills required to support individuals accessing workshop facilities associated with wood? Do you have a good understanding of the support skills required to facilitate businesses and individuals to develop and prototype ideas for new products and can you demonstrate an awareness of collaborative maker spaces?

We are looking for a Senior Technician to join the team at STEAMhouse and provide specialist expertise within the wood workshop. You’ll need knowledge of a wide range of production techniques and processes in order to support STEAMhouse users to prototype ideas and develop innovative new products. You will actively engage in research by working with users to develop new production techniques, test innovative ways to use materials and processes and explore collaborative/open approaches to product development.

STEAMhouse is a new innovation centre, production and makerspace which opened in Birmingham (UK) in May 2018. STEAMhouse will demonstrate how arts and creativity can be combined with disciplines in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEAM) to drive innovation, skills, research and economic growth. it is developed through a partnership between Eastside Projects and Birmingham City University. The project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and Arts Council England.
