Policy Show Launch Day: Friday 15 September
Meeting #1: Unspoken policies of the Art Organisation, 2–5pm
Project and Publication Launch: 5–7pm
On Friday 15 September we launched Policy Show.
During our first public Policy Show meeting, led by artists Teresa Cisneros, Christian Nyampeta, Ciara Phillips and Rehana Zaman, we drafted our first policy in response to unspoken policies of the art organisation – in this case, Eastside Projects – as we’re moving forward into a new stage of development. In our think tank we considered questions such as: Who cleans the bathroom? How much should we be paying artists? What is the lifespan of an art organisation? What works? What doesn’t work?
Rosalie Schweiker facilitated the public meeting, examined these questions together with participants, in order to develop a policy of care for Eastside Projects and beyond. Through this process we will be creating three new policies at three different scales each of which will be an artwork, or be informed by art thinking and art making. Following each Public Meeting, the lead artists & Eastside Projects will draft a new policy and plan a series of actions to share, test and implement.
Future Policy Show Events:
Meeting #2: Unspoken policies of housing. 19 October, 2-5pm
Meeting #3: Unspoken policies of education. 1 December, 2-5pm
