OPEN DAY: Archiving the Community
Friday, 8 October 2021
12 – 7.30 pm
Artist-Curator Candice Nembhard invites Afro-Caribbean/West Indian individuals to join them for an open day at Eastside Projects where attendees will be asked to bring archival materials to be housed in the exhibition Portals. Materials might include photographs, books, records, clothes, household objects and heirlooms. The gallery will be open for donated items from 12-6pm, with a celebration event of music and food from 6-7:30pm.
These items will remain in the gallery space for the duration of the show and speak to the wider need for collective archiving through objects, discussion, and care. This is a gathering space and a loving space. All are welcome to attend, with Afro-Caribbean/West Indian communities prioritised.
If you would like to donate an item to the exhibition, please contact candice@eastsideprojects.org with your name, contact details, a description of the item you would like to bring and an image where possible.
