Lunch Club and Tea Sharing
Friday, 20 July 2018
1 – 2pm
Come and share a cup of tea with us over lunch. We will be talking about The Endless Village exhibition and reading an adapted extract of Marina Warner’s book No Go the Bogeyman, which talks about the significance of bananas as a food of comedy, sexuality and fear. Marina Warner traces the origins of the banana back to 15th Century, looking at its colonial history and social symbolism.
Over the course of June and July we are serving a selection of teas from around the world, come along and try the tea of the week with a slice of homemade banana bread. All you need to bring is your sandwiches. Printed copies of the extract will be provided with a slice of cake, no need to read it in advance.
