I want to fall back in love with experiencing art. Lately I have become jaded and anxious when looking at art. Going to an exhibition, encountering an artwork and feeling out all the decisions the artist has made used to be (relatively) fun. Now the thought of going to a show is exhausting. I\u2019ve got exhibition fatigue and I wonder if this lack of curiosity is affecting what or how I make?\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\r\n

I propose a series of gallery visits with EOP Members, as a form of relationship therapy between the group and art. Together we can question, unpick, experience exhibitions and explore public artworks.\u00a0 We can work out how we feel about the art presented and what we want from it, and see if we can collectively fall in love again.<\/em><\/p>\r\nFind out how to get involved HERE<\/a>\r\n\r\nAbout Emma<\/span><\/span>\r\n\r\nEmma Hart<\/a> lives and works in London. She makes exuberant ceramic sculptures, which test the limits of the medium, pushing clay to go beyond being a vessel to actively confront the viewer by physically encroaching on their personal space. Objects like ceramic speech bubbles that put words in our mouths, or protruding megaphones which shout in our faces test power relationships between the artist, the viewer and the work, implicating the audience in acts of visual and verbal violence, and playing out the ups and downs of human relationships.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\nIn 2023 she created the permanent artwork <\/span>Hear Now!<\/span><\/i> for the public entrance of the new UCL East building in London, and in 2024 she will realise a major permanent installation for Modern Art Oxford.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\nMajor solo exhibitions include <\/span>Big Time<\/span><\/i>, Hospitalfield (2023 and Frieze Sculpture Park, London (2022),\u00a0 <\/span>Big Mouth<\/span><\/i>, Barakat Contemporary, Seoul, (2022); <\/span>Banger,<\/span><\/i> Fruitmarket, Edinburgh (2018), <\/span>Mamma Mia!<\/span><\/i> Whitechapel Gallery, London, Collezione Maramotti, Reggio Emilia, (2017), <\/span>Giving It All That<\/span><\/i>, Folkestone Triennial (2014) and <\/span>Dirty Looks<\/span><\/i>, Camden Arts Centre (2013).\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\nGroup exhibitions include <\/span>Strange Clay<\/span><\/i>, Hayward Gallery (2022-23); Somerset House (London, 2021); Kuenstlerhaus Dortmund, 2019); Kunsthaus Hamburg (2018).
