Deadline: 10 March 2017
Ikon and Eastside Projects are continuing a collaboration which aims to provide emerging artists with the opportunity to gain experience in leading a practical workshop with young people. Ikon are seeking six artists with a variety of practices to hold workshops with IYP (Ikon Youth Programme), allowing young people to develop new practical skills while gaining an insight into creative career paths.
Besides gaining hands on experience of leading a workshop, the six artists will also be provided with mentoring from the Learning team at Ikon, including tutoring in session planning and a feedback session afterwards.
Each of the six artists will be allocated a two-hour workshop running from 6-8pm on a Thursday evening at Ikon Gallery. Ikon will hold one workshop per month from April 2017 onwards.
During the workshop the artist should introduce their practice and career path and create an opportunity for Q&A with the young people. Artists should be honest and inspiring and give the IYP members a true insight into their career. A short practical workshop should follow this discussion and showcase the artist’s art form in an exciting and inspiring manner.
To apply, please email a CV and, if appropriate, up to 6 images of your work along with a short covering letter that explains your proposal for the workshop to email@example.com.
Fee: £100 per artist
Deadline: Friday 10 March
A selection panel of Ikon and Eastside Projects staff and IYP members will make the final selection based on the proposal, experience and relevance to Ikon’s exhibition programme.
Attend Toolkit: Working in Gallery Education, on Tuesday 21 February to hear James introduce the project and talk more about IYP.
