Launch 7 February, 6–8pm
The New Art Gallery Walsall, Gallery Square, Walsall, WS2 8LG
Sarah Taylor Silverwood launches a new solo show at New Art Gallery Walsall, her hand-drawn animation, objects and drawing, interprets key motifs within the Greek myth of Daphne and Apollo and considers how we consume these narratives. In doing so, she highlights the ways in which early stories permeate contemporary popular culture and wider social narratives around women’s experiences. Through the work, Sarah also draws attention to the form of animation itself, as a practice that exists between drawing and moving image and a record of the maker’s hand.
