ONLINE Let Them Know: Promote Your Practice with Confidence

Tuesday, 7 February 2023
6 – 8pm

This event is organised by Primary, Nottingham as part of the Kaleidoscope Network.

They say it’s not what you know but who you know. So let’s take it a step further and say it’s also about who knows you. Whilst what you know and who you know remain essential for making it as an artist, being known beyond those you already know can be a door opener for more opportunities.

In this online event, learn how to confidently increase your visibility as an artist with best practices for connecting with curators, galleries and institutions, brands, collectors, other artists and audiences through tips and case studies. The event will consist of a presentation and a speed networking session with other attendees.

Presented by independent curator and artist development mentor Saziso Phiri.

Saziso Phiri is a freelance curator, cultural producer and artist mentor working across exhibitions and in artist development.  She has worked on exhibitions and programming for and in partnership with organisations In the UK and internationally, which include Sadler’s Wells, Nottingham Contemporary, New Art Exchange, Backlit Gallery, UK New Artists and Nuart Festival, with her work having been featured in publications such as The Guardian, Hypebeast, ArtReview, Black Blossoms and Artplugged. She has also been a visiting Sheffield Hallam University and De Montford University.

This event is part of the Kaleidoscope Network, a collaboration between Spike Island (Bristol) Eastside Projects (Birmingham), Primary (Nottingham) and The NewBridge Project (Newcastle). Formed in response to a need for mutual support, the network has come together as a way to share resources, increase what each partner is able to offer and create new connections between communities of artists.
