Interior Reflections II
An artist talk by Rachel Lowe, Andrew Lacon and Marie Toseland
Friday 1 March, 6.30-8pm

In this artist talk Rachel Lowe will give insight into her work currently on show at Eastside Projects, Revolving Woman. She will discuss the video’s conceptual and technical realisation, how it relates to her broader practice and why this work is significant to her. Andrew Lacon, an ESP member from Birmingham and Marie Toseland, an artist based in Bristol will talk about the collaborative process they adopted in order to make their Flatfile presentation, also currently showing at Eastside Projects.

Rachel Lowe (b. 1968, Newcastle upon Tyne. Lives and works in London)

Marie Toseland (b. 1987, Derby. Lives and works in Bristol.)

Recent exhibitions include the solo show Local Interference, WORKS|PROJECTS, Bristol (2011), and group shows Thoresby Street Thursdays, One Thoresby Street, Nottingham (2012), and The Potential for Windows and Scale, The Contemporary Art Society, London (2011). Her writing has been printed in several publications, including The Potential for Windows and Scale, (An Endless Supply, 2012) and FEAST Journal (Laura Mansfield, 2011), included in the Nowhereisland Resident Thinker programme (Situations, 2012), and have been presented as spoken word performances for the Happy Hypocrite at both Spike Island, Bristol (2011) and Eastside Projects, Birmingham (2011). Forthcoming projects include a residency at The Curfew Tower, Northern Ireland and a solo show at WORKS|PROJECTS, Bristol. Marie is currently represented by WORKS|PROJECTS as part of Regional Interference.

Andrew Lacon (b. 1985, Dudley. Lives and works in Birmingham.)

Recent exhibitions include the solo show A Magnitude In Albion, OUTPOST, Norwich (2011), and group shows Approaching Is Distancing, BKS Garage, Copenhagen, Denmark (2012) Prix Leica Europe, Marta Museum & Gallery, Herford, Germany (2011) and SHOW Battersea, Royal College of Art, London (2011). He received the Metro Award (2011) and the National Magazine Award for Fine Art RCA (2010) along with being shortlisted for the Deutsche Bank Art Award (2011). Publications include HARDCOVER: Image Perspectives, (BlackDog Publishing, 2011).

He is currently Artist in Residence at UCA (Rochester) and working on the Reference Works commission with the Birmingham Library Photography Archives.
