Away Day: Liverpool Biennial
Saturday, 15 September 2018
10am – 6pm
We teamed up with the associates at Castlefield Gallery’s Assocaites (Manchester) and Islington Mill Art Academy (Salford) and visited the Liverpool Biennial on mass. Liverpool based artist and curator Emma Curd guided us around the biennial visiting some of the key venues and meeting other artists and organisations along the way.
This years Biennial has over 40 artists commissions that respond to the context of Liverpool by addressing the theme of ‘Beautiful world, where are you?’ The programme invites artists and audiences to reflect on a world of social, political and economic turmoil.
Emma Curd is an artist, researcher and ‘critical friend’. Currently working as a Post Graduate Researcher at Liverpool School of Art and Design (LJMU) where she studies alternative interpretation programmes in contemporary art institutions. Since 2015 she has worked with The Royal Standard, initially as an artistic director and more recently as a studio member.
