Tacita Dean (b. 1965 Canterbury, England. Lives and works in Berlin.) The films, drawings and other works by Tacita Dean are carried by a sense of history, time and place, light quality and the essence of the film itself. Recent major exhibitions include Still Life, Fondazione Trussardi, Milan, 2009 and ACCA, Melbourne, 2009. Her large-scale film installation Merce Cunningham Performs Stillness was presented at DIA Beacon, New York in 2008. Other notable solo exhibitions include Wandermüde, Frith Street Gallery, London, 2007; Guggenheim Museum, New York, 2007; Schaulager, Basel, 2006; Tate Britain, London, 2001; Musée d’art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, 2003. Dean won the Hugo Boss award in 2007 and was nominated for the Turner Prize in 1998. She is represented by Frith Street Gallery, London.
