Artists Index: Amy Pettifer & Jennifer Boyd (SHELL LIKE)

Jennifer Boyd is a writer based in Barcelona and London. Boyd has been published by Afterall, SALT. and After Us, and recently produced the writing for a duo of artist books by Alice Channer, Skinned and Detouched, published by Eastside Projects and Motto Books (2018). Other recent projects and texts include ‘Ultimate Fantasies’ at Guest Projects, London, the novella Nightbox written to accompany the exhibition Chrome Villa at ‘Andor’, London (2018), and A Theory for the Strange-Girl: Raw Red Text released by ‘COUNTRY MUSIC’ (2017). Amy Pettifer is a writer based in London. Her work has been published by Shoppinghour, Information As Material, The Quietus, Artsadmin and Tate. Exhibitions include Emblems Left at Duncan of Jordanstone College, Dundee (2009); Received Wisdom at 119 Lower Clapton, London (2013); The Nabokov Paper at Shandy Hall, North Yorkshire (2014); Surrounding 10 at Capstan House, London (2017); (57) #PASSION on ilyd.nu; and Windswept Baby at Victoria & Albert Museum, London (2018). Pettifer and Boyd are co-organisers of SHELL LIKE, an ongoing series of hour-long listening events featuring existing and newly commissioned audio works by UK-based and international artists and writers. To date they have programmed events at Guest Projects, Artsadmin and LUX in London, and Sidney Cooper Gallery in Canterbury, and worked with artists and writers including Larry Achiampong, Ain Bailey, Penny Goring, Jade Montserrat, Heather Phillipson and Tai Shani. SHELL LIKE creates a dedicated space for sound work and focuses on the importance of listening - particularly as a group - as a vital social and political act.
