(b. 1970, South Africa. Lives and works in Johannesburg.) Gabi Ngcobo is an artist and curator and one of the co-curators of the 32nd Biennale de São Paulo (2016). Along with Dineo Seshee Bopape and Sinethemba Twalo, Gabi is one of the founding members of NGO (Nothing Gets Organised), a new project and art space in Johannesburg that launched on 29 March 2016. She has worked as Assistant Curator at the South African National Gallery in Cape Town and as Head of Research for Cape Africa Platform. In 2010 she co-founded the Center for Historical Reenactments in Johannesburg, and currently serves as Director, even after the organisation’s staged death in 2012. She holds a Masters degree from the Center for Curatorial Studies, Bard College (New York) and is a faculty member at the Wits School of Arts, University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg.
