Art & Language (Founded in Coventry, 1968, by Michael Baldwin, David Bainbridge, Terry Atkinson and Harold Hurrell.) Since 1977, Art & Language has been identified with the collaborative work of Michael Baldwin and Mel Ramsden, and with their theoretical and critical collaboration with Charles Harrison. From the beginning they questioned the critical assumptions of mainstream modern art practice and criticism. Much of their early work consisted of detailed discussion of these issues presented in their journal Art-Language which was first published in 1969. Art and Language live and work in Middleton Cheney, Oxfordshire and are represented by The Lisson Gallery, London.
